Venues / Scala Trun

The exhibition project 'wat dingen doen' explores how artistic aproaches materialise.

In terms of content, the project refers to the historically significant exhibition 'When Attitudes Become Form' held at the Kunsthalle Bern in 1969. How does the relationship between form and material manifest itself in artistic value and significance today?

'wat dingen doen' alters existing materials and situations deliberately or unconsciously. The material remains purely physical in nature, but through perception and attitude it becomes something else, something artificial that cannot be physically located. This new fluid material is the essence of things and what they do. Like a placeholder, it can adopt different forms and meanings.

Scala Trun is an art space based in the Swiss mountains. They are interested in the exchange of urban and countryside, periphery and center. As a cooperation between Swiss, German and Antwerp-based artists they are looking to renegotiate views and values in a typical meticulous Swiss/German as well as the frank Antwerp way.
Scala Trun was previously part of AAW in 2023.
