FAAR

On floor -3 of the current Indigo parking garage at Nationale Bank is a piece of city history that most Antwerp residents are unaware of. This architectural structure from the 16th century was excavated in 2003 during the reconstruction of the Zuiderleien and was then divided into segments and stored. In 2006, part of this bastion was rebuilt, 6 meters lower than its original location. The 'Keizersbastion' was part of the Spanish Wall. During the excavations, not only artifacts from this period were found, but also remnants from 100,000 years ago to modernity.

Through their respective works, the artists of FAAR explore the history of Antwerp's ramparts and how to make them visible. By connecting elements of the Keizersbastion and the Spanish Wall to the participating artists, they seek to present a broad but in-depth look at this history, through the lens of different art practices.
