Venues / ZIJspoor

'STAND VAN ZAKEN' (state of affairs) is a group exhibition organized and curated by the artist collective ZIJspoor (Demi Cocquyt & Elise Willems).

For the second edition of their artist-run group exhibition, ZIJspoor is once again taking over the vacant court of appeals. 'STAND VAN ZAKEN' brings together a selection of young, emerging artists, with a focus this year on sculptural work in the space.

During the opening on 14.05, there will be performances by Nina Vandenbempt, and Nina Vandeweghe, among others.

STAND VAN ZAKEN is a snapshot: literally in the space, figuratively in the field.
In the vacant Court of Appeal, cases are still being heard.

Participating artists:

Nel Bonte, Bovenbouw, Kelly Christogiannis, Demi Cocquyt, Ilke Cop, Nina Van Denbempt, Charlotte Dumortier, Deveny Faruque, Feston, Jente Fleerackers, Olga Flor, JB Gambier, Charlot Van Geert, Lynn Van Hoydonck, Susanna Ingignoli, Bogenna Ivana, Justine Lambrechts, Sander Lembrechts, Kris Meeusen, Nina Minnebo, Ileana Moro, Elvira Mulkay, Eleni Papadopoulou, Alice Vanderschoot, Nina Vandeweghe, Guinness Vanhellemont, Luca Van Vliet, Charlie De Voet, and Elise Willems

The ZIJspoor artists’ collective is led by Demi Cocquyt and Elise Willems. The “ZIJ” emphasizes the power of female collaboration. At the same time, “zijspoor” in Dutch represents an alternative path within the art world.

By temporarily occupying the vacant Court of Appeals building, ZIJspoor is returning a piece of the city to the public.
