For Antwerp Art Weekend 2026, DEUSS Gallery ELSEWHERE presents a focused exhibition that approaches photography as a space of attention, where image, light and material presence converge.
Photography is not reduced to a picture, but considered as a physical and spatial encounter. Each work emerges from a deliberate process in which capture, scale, surface and presentation collectively determine the intensity of the image. What is offered is not instant consumption, but a sustained experience.
The exhibition brings together works by Thibeau Scarceriaux, Karel Fonteyne, Wing Shya and Anouk Van de Wal, artists who each, through distinct visual languages, explore the tension between proximity and distance, clarity and ambiguity, surface and depth. What connects them is a strong sense of image autonomy and a commitment to concentration and precision.
Conceived specifically for Antwerp Art Weekend, the exhibition unfolds in a raw New York–style garage space in central Antwerp. The restrained industrial setting remains deliberately secondary to the artworks, creating a quiet contrast that allows the works to fully unfold.
